7) What is Moment of a force? Ans: Moment of a force is the tendency of a force to rotate or twist an object about a certain point. Moment of a force about any point is the product of the magnitude of the force and the perpendicular distance of the force from the point. The point about which te moment is taken is called moment center. In the fig 8, a force F produced a moment M=Fxd about a point A, where d is the perpendicular distance between the force and the point A. Unit of moment is N.m and anticlockwise moments are taken as positive.
