My interaction of particle physics had been started mainly due to Prakhar Garg. We were employed in the same college in 2006, I was in Mechanical Engg. department and he was in Physics. He had a masters in particle physics from BHU (Banaras Hindu University). He introduced me to the world of "Muon", the heavier cousin of electron. Infact they are second generation Leptons. So, what does this generation mean?

In particle physics, the most fundamental particles, which do not possess any internal structures are QUARKs and LEPTONs. And the peculiarity is that they have generations of particles both quarks as well as leptons. Till now the accepted theory is this both quarks and leptons have three such generation, where second generations are heavier than that of first generations but lighter than the particles of third generations.
