les Miserables

17.01.2013 02:11 EST
does anybody know the cure for "les miserables syndrome?" i just can't get enough of it! hugh jackman is so amazing! he perfectly characterizes jean valjean. i never thought he could sing so well! his "what have i done" (valjean's soliloquy) carries the les mis spirit! the heart of les mis is in anne hathaway's "i dreamed a dream!" some songs were shortened to fit the time frame but i really don't mind. the live singing is superb! les miserables is all about the music, the characters, and the emotions! the film leaves me motivated and inspired as it highlights the importance of love and compassion. i strongly recommend the film to everyone--even to those who are not into musicals! needless to say, i will be watching it again and again.I memorize all the songs just as i do with the phantom of the opera. i can't wait to own a les mis dvd!
amanda seyfrid has the voice but i think it just doesn't suit for les miserables.her voice sounds very thin and she falters on high notes at times.she is better for disney characters:)hugh jackmans singing is excellent even if he uses too much of his chest tones in "bring him home" which makes him sound exhausted.he is very nasal too. but he's got a bright edge in his voice that is acceptable in the musical stage:)anne Hathaway surely doesn't have such big powerful voice as that of the broadway fantines, but the emotion...goodness!!!...i could really sympathize with her as if i personally knew Fantine and the griefs of her soul. i have known the song"i dreamed a dream" for ages now,but Anne Hathaway's rendition still never fails to move me as it gives me a newer and more realistic feel of the song:)Russell Crowe reminds me of Gerald butler with his rock opera singing style. he may not be the most ideal javert to everyone but i somehow get the point of him playing the role. he personifies javert's psychotic nature."javert's suicide" has been delivered accordingly:) Samantha barks does very well as eponine.her voice is as strong as eponine's character, though the first thing that people notice about her is her hips:) little gavroche is very remarkable to me. the character is played by Daniel...?goodness,i have forgotten!!! but he's great!!! his accent sounds cool:) I've got a copy of the les mis highlights album and it gets me a little bit come big songs such as"do you hear the people sing"and "a little fall of rain" excluded from it? anyway, i will just wait for the complete recording.
