Society's greatest tragedy

05.04.2010 15:21 EDT
Today was not a normal day for me.One minor incident, got me thinking on the whole trip back home from work. After the two mundane interviews i conducted i made a pitstop at a local atm machine. It was rather quiet, which is something you would come to expect on a public holiday,i suppose.Just after i made my withdrawel and was preparing to leave,i was startled by a pretty young lady.she politely asked me to assist her to withdraw some money, which i was reluctent to do initially. But it appeared the security guards were on holiday too.So my concience wouldnt allow me to walk away, while a damzel was in distress. So i helped the broad. When we were finally done,it struck how desperate she was for this money,a measly R240 from her child grant.Clearly she wasnt getting financial support from the bloke that knocked her up.I am always startled by how much young South African girls sacrifice for a useless child grant. Not enough is being done to educate and empower young girls. This simply cant continue like this.
