My pashasha moment

16.05.2010 10:05 EDT
If ever there was an indicator that the 2010 Fifa World Cup was on the African continent, the fashionably late start to today's proceedings at the Mega City shopping centre in Umlazi was it.On any other day, waiting for an hour while being baked by the harsh African sun would have had me absolutely fuming. However, just this once,it felt like a lengthy delay was well worth my while.Once we entered the enclosed area, where the 'holy grail' of world football was being safely guarded by all the security guards in the city of Durban, the officials felt compelled to waste our time again while the KZN Premier decided to steal the show. When the moment to have my photo taken alongside the trophy finally arrived,my knees litteraly turned to jelly. No girl in the world can make me feel the way i felt today. The great irony was that the experience lasted for about 30 seconds, litteraly. It was a case of smile and move along. However, after all of that, being able to stand next to the original gold trophy was extraordinary.
