Missing the point...

There has been a considerable amount of commentary about South Africa's ability to host the World Cup,which is fair enough.However,the greatness of a tournament,should in all honesty have nothing to do with fancy stadiums nor should it have to do with the performances of the host nation.Truth be told,it shouldn't even have to do with the precious World Cup trophy. The United States and Germany were spectacular hosts,but the football on display at both tournaments was dull,to say the least.Had it not been for the altercation between Zidane and Materatzi,the 2006 final might have gone down as one of the dullest in the tournament's history.Let's face it,the 1994 final was simply dreary.The atmosphere at the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan was cold,but the final was brilliant and so was the tournament.The crux of the matter is this,if the 32 teams play an attractive brand of football,the discerning fan couldn't care less how many World Cup billboards were on display in South Africa...
