The Screwdriver

The screwdriver is the most frequently used tool around the home. Screwdrivers have a variety of different styles to match the screw head styles. The straight blade style for the slotted head screw is most common. The Phillips are crosspoint head is frequently used for screws mounting various hardware items. For example, floor hardware is often installed with the use of the phillips style screw. Screwdrivers are available in a variety of sizes, given by the length of the blade. Screwdrivers should be matched to screw sizes and types. Screws with an undersized screwdriver are likely to receive slot and head damage. The screwdriver itself may also be damaged.
To drive repeated numbers of screws rapidly by hand, a spiral ratchet screwdriver may be your choice. By singly pushing down on the handle the be reversed to remove screws or it can be locked for ordinary use. The ratchet comes with a variety of interchangeable blade sizes and styles.
