1. Ashoka (264-228 B.C.)- Grandson of Mourya Chandra Gupta, Indian Emperor, He embraced and preached Buddhism after
Kalinga War.

2. Akbar- Mughal Emperor. Founder of Din-i-llahi, a new religion. He abolished Jazia.

3. Aryabhatta- Famous Astronomer & Mathematician of olden days. India's first satellite is named after him. He pointed
out the importance of Zero.

4. Annie Besant- Though born Irish, fought, for India's freedom, a staunch supporter,
President of the Theosophical Society.

5. Annamacharya- Famous Composer, Musician.

6. Bose, Jagadish Chandra- Famous scientist of India. He proved that plants too have life.

7. Bose, Subhas Chandra- Freedom fighter, Founder of Indian National Army.

8. Buddha- Founder of Buddhism, Kshatriya prince, dejected in life and attained knowledge or jnana under a peepal tree.
He is called Light of Asia. Preached Buddhism.

9. Dada Saheb Phalke- Responsible for the uplifunent of Indian film
Industry.

10. Dayananda Saraswathi- Founder of Arya Samaj Hindu Reformer.

11. M.K. Gandhi- (1869-1948) Father of the Nation, India achieved Independence mainly through his effots, Author
of 'My Experiments with Truth', his own Autobiography. He was assassinated on 30th January, 1948.

Frontier Gandhi. Freedom fighter of India.

24. Lala Lajpat Rai- Known as Lion of Punjab. Founder of Dayanand Anglo
Vedic College, writer, freedom fighter.

25. Lal Bahadur Shastri- Second prime Minister of India.

26. Mother Teresa- Noble peace Prize Winner, Catholic nun who served the poorest of the poor.

27. Meerabai- Follower of Krishna who sang songs in love of Lord Krishna.

28. Meera Behn- Follower of Gandhi, born
English, she dedicated her life to India.

29. Sardar Vallabhai Patel- Known as the Iron man of India, First Deputy
Prime Minister of India, Responsible for unification of all the Princely States of India. A great freedom fighter.

30. Prem Chand- Hindi novelist, Godan, Gaban are his famous novels.

31. Rajendra Prasad- First President of India,
freedom fighter.

32. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan- A Philosoper & President of India. Authored many Philosophy books.

33. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa- Religious saint.

34. Razia Begum- Daughter of Altmash First Lady Queen.

35. Rakesh Sharma- First Indian to travel in space.

36. D. Raja Rao- Famous english writer who won new state prize. He
wrote Kantapura.

37. Rajagopalachari- Former Chief Minister of Madras. He was a famous writer. Wrote Ramayana &
Mahabharata in Tamil. Founder of Swatantra Party. Famous as Rajaji.

'Raman Effect'.

39. Rajaram Mohan Roy- Founder of Brahma Samaj. Responsible for English Education in India. He fought
for abolition of sati.

40. Rabindranath Tagore- Nobel poet, Founder of Shanthi Niketan Bengali Poet, Author of
Jana Gana Mana.

41. Rajiv Gandhi- Former Prime Minister of India. Son of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Killed in a bomb blast.

42. Sarojini Naidu- Called Nightingale of India. She was the First Women President of National Congress.

43. Shahjahan- Famous Mughal Ruler. He was responsible for the famous structure Tajmahal entirely built in marble in
Agra.

44. Shivaji- Maratha King, fought successfully against Aurangazeb.

45. Tillak Bal Gangadhar- Freedom fighter,
Famous Advocate, Author. He was the First Indian to declare "Swaraj is My Birth Right".

46. Veda Vysya- Author of the
Mahabharatha, A great scholar. He composed the songs of Lord Krishna as Bhagawadgeeta.

47. Vivekananda- Disciple
of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Founder of the Ramakrishna Mission.
