.:4:. VOICE

Voice: Voice it that form of a verb which shows whether what is denoted by the subject does something or has something
done to it.
Voice is of two types:
1. Active Voice
2. Passive Voice

1. Active Voice: The form of the verb in a sentence
which shows that the person denoted by the subject does something is said to be in Active Voice.
e.g.: Everyone loves her.
I like sweets.

2. Passive Voice:The form of the verb in a sentence which shows that something
is done to the person or thing denoted by the subject is said to be in passive voice.
e.g.: She is loved by everyone.
Sweets are liked by me.

A.V-Active Voice
P.V-Passive Voice

1. Children play games (A.V)
Games are played by children. (P.V)

2. Rama killed Ravana. (A.V)
Ravana was killed by Rama. (P.V)

3. She is eating a mango. (A.V)
A mango is being eaten by her. (P.V)

OBSERVE THE SENTENCES AND CHANGES WHILE A VERB IN ACTIVE IS CHANGED TO PASSIVE:
1. The object in the sentence becomes the subject of the verb in the passive.
2. The verb is changed keeping in view the tense of the verb (followed by the past participle form of the verb).
3. The preposition 'by' is used.
4. The subject in the sentence becomes the object of the verb in the passive.

STRUCTURES IN ACTIVE:
*Simple present- subject+present form of the verb+object.
*Simple past- subject+past form of the verb+object.
*Simple future- subject+will or shall+present form of the verb+verb.
*Present continuous- subject+am or is or are+present form of the verb+ing+object.
*Past continuous- subject+was or were+present form of the verb+ing+object.
*Future continuous- subject+will or shall+be+present form of the verb+ing+object.
*Present perfect- subject+has or have+past participle form of the verb+object.
*Past perfect- subject+had+past participle form of the verb+object.
*Future perfect- subject+will or shall+have+past participle form of the verb+object.
*Present perfect continuous- subject+has or have+been+present form of the verb+ing+object.
*Past perfect continuous- subject+had+been+present form of the verb+ing+object.
*Future perfect continuous- subject+will or shall+have+been+present form of the verb+ing+object.

STRUCTURES IN PASSIVE:
*Simple present: subject+am (or) is (or) are+past participle form of the verb.
*Present continuous: subject+am (or) is (or) are+being+past participle form of the verb.
*Present perfect: subject+have (or) has+been+past participle form of the verb.
*Simple past: subject+was (or) were+past participle form of the verb.
*Past continuous: subject+was (or) were+being+past participle form of the verb.
*Past perfect: subject+had+been+past prticiple form of the verb.
*Simple future: subject+shall (or) will+be+past participle form of the verb.
*Future perfect: subject+shall have (or) will have+been+past participle form of the verb.
