.:10:. SIMPLE, COMPOUND AND COMPLEX SENTENCES

1. Simple sentence: A simple sentence is one which has only one subject and one predicate.
E.g.: a. I saw a wounded bird.
b. The sky is blue.
c. The moon was shining brightly.

2.Compound sentence: A compound sentence is one made up of two or more principle or main clauses.
E.g.: a. Walk quickly or you will miss the bus.
b. I called him, but he gave me no answer.
c. I returned home because I was tired.

3. Complex sentences: A complex sentence is one made up of one main clause and one or more subordinate clauses.
E.g.: a. If he had started early, he would not have been late for the examination.
b. When we were watching a film, the lights went off.
c. Unless you do as I tell you, you will regret it.
