Ocean floor features

Most of the ocean bed is an enormous flat plain which lies 3-4 km or 1-3 miles below the sea's surface. From this, the tall mountains surface right down in the depths, dark ocean trenches fall to 10 km or 6 miles and more. Around the coast, where the land rises up to form continents, the water is shallowest.
