Cardamom one of the most highly prized spices, has a history as old as human civilization. The dried fruit of a herbaceous perennial, cardamom is Grown mainly in western Ghats. Warm humid climate, loamy soil rich in organic matter, distributed rainfall and special cultivation and processing methods all combine to make Indian cardamom truly unique in aroma. Flavor, size and color. Indian Cardamom are famous in world wide. The true cardamom has large leaves and white flowers with blue stripes and yellow borders, it grows to about 3 m in height, the fruit is a small capsule with 8 to 16 brown seeds, the seeds are used as spice. The aroma is stimulant enough to make it popular as a tonic-essence and aphrodisiac down the age, Arabs use the seeds as an aphrodisiac like cloves, cardamoms are popular as a larder remedy for bad breath. Some cultures use the essence as perfume. Cardamom is common folk remedy for indigestion in many cultures. It is also popular as a preventive for flatulence and colic.
Pepper:- pepper produced in kerala fetches a premium price in international markets in view of its intrinsic quality. The revival of pepper cultivation in the state has to be given priority considering the declining trend in production, disease incidence as well as the damages caused to the erythrina standards. A major pepper rehabilitation package has been initiated in Wayanad district. However the consequent to the liberalization of imports, there are reports of low quality pepper imported from other producing countries. It affected the farmers of the pepper .
Cashew:- The production of cashew in kerala is 23 % of India. Thousands of cashew factories cover in kerala. They exports cashew to foreign countries. And import raw of cashew from African countries.
Rubber:- India is the fourth largest production country of nature rubber. India is the same time second largest consumer of natural rubber after china. Kerala is produced 80% of nature rubber in india. One of the best agricultural product of kerala it cost is always depend upon crude oils. Because crude oil is needed to produce artificial rubber.
