Just as with tonsillitis, glandular fever starts with a sore throat but progresses very rapidly to severe pain in the throat and white deposits on the tonsils. The glands in the neck swell and, if looked for, there may be swollen glands elsewhere in the body. There is sometimes a mild degree of jaundice (looking yellow) and rashes.
