The treatment dependson the cause, which is usually fairly easy to determine. Where it is because of some inadequacy in the diet e.g. being low in iron then it is correctable with iron tablets. Whereblood loss is thought to be the cause then clearly treatment depends on the source of the blood loss e.g. with medication to cure a duodenal ulcer or surgery to deal with cancers. Whatever the cause it is important to have follow up blood tests to make sure that things are returning to normal and also to decide how long it is necessary to take treatment.
