Fallot's tetralogy

This is a complex abnormality where there is a hole between the right and the left ventricles (see ventricular septal defect), obstruction to flow from the right sideof the heart and changes in the anatomyof the major arteries leaving the ventricles. Though statistically rare, Fallot's tetralogy isone of the commonest congenital heart problems giving rise to blue babies and these are children who will need surgical treatmentduring infancy.
