Indian Government. A
prominent officer of the
company has also stated
that he will be coming to
India in the coming week
in order to advance the
idea. Zhang Dong, the
vice-president of Inspur
Group, has stated that his
organization is looking
forward to be a part of the
new vision put forward by
the present Government in
India. Inspur Group
happens to be a leading
name in hardware, which
Zhang feels will mesh well
with India’s capabilities in
the domain of software
and help create the ideal
combination.
Chinese company looking
to invest in Smart Cities
project
Zhang has further stated
that the company has
started a dialogue with
the Indian Government for
starting the partnership.
He has also revealed that
Inspur’s president has
already been to India, a
visit that has been
reciprocated by the Indian
Ambassador to China.
Zhang himself is supposed
to come to India for a
period of one and a half
month. During that period
he would be meeting
officers and see what
chances are there of a
possible collaboration.
Inspur Group also operates
outside of China and has
till date played a
prominent role in taking
China to the age of cloud
computing from the era of
mainframes. It also leads
in the technology servers
industry. China has itself
created a number of smart
cities and Zhang feels that
experience could turn out
to be very useful for India
as well.
US eager to help with
Smart Cities project
India and the US have
recently been talking
about areas where the
latter could invest in the
urban development sector
of the earlier and one of
the areas that have come
up in the discussions is the
urban development
industry. Michael Froman,
the trade representative
from the US, has had a
meeting with Venkaiah
Naidu, Union Urban
Development Minister. It
has been learnt that
during the discussion
Naidu delved into how the
project aims at providing
improved urban life
through better physical,
economic and social
infrastructure.
The project also aims at
bringing about a major
change in the way
governance is being
handled in the cities that
are supposed to be
targeted by this project.
According to Naidu proper
delivery of services and
governance through
electronic media are going
to be the game changers
in this respect. Five
hundred urban habitations
are supposed to come up
in the days ahead and
Naidu has informed
Froman that proper
provision of basic
infrastructure will be
taken care of in them.
Incidentally, the US has
stated that it would like to
play a major role in the
development of Allahabad,
Ajmer and
Vishakhapatnam as smart
cities.
Government focus on
Smart Cities as proper way
to live
The Indian Government
has stated that smart
cities can play a crucial
role in India grow in an
inclusive way. It is
expected that the cities,
which are still in the
offing, will improve the
socio-economic
infrastructure of the area
and also create a lot of
jobs where there will be
opportunity for one and
all. Facilities are going to
be the cornerstone of the
development one gets to
see in the smart cities. For
example, along the Delhi-
Mumbai Industrial Corridor
(DMIC) it is being stated
that there will be
arrangement for round
the clock electricity and
water.
Other key features of
these areas are going to
be cyber connectivity
along with urban mobility
that will be ensured by a
public transport system
that will have to be
exceptional. The Indian
Government is trying to
get through several
reforms in this regard so
as to make sure that these
processes could be
brought on track in the
shortest time possible.
Shankar Agarwal, who is
the Secretary of India’s
Urban Development
Ministry, has stated how
Modi has instructed the
ministry to do away with
ancient and washed up
systems as soon as
possible.
