HAZARDS IN THE BAR


In the bar there are some special hazards to be aware of.
Ø When using a knife e.g. cutting lemons always use the correct knife for the job you are doing. Use of incorrect knives can lead to accidents.Always leave a knife with its blade flat: if you leave the blade uppermost it would be very easy for you or a colleague to cut the palm of the hand. Never leave a knife immersed in water.
Ø If walking while carrying knives , always point the blade towards the floor, away from your body. If you were to trip or fall you might end up stabbing someone or injuring yourself.
Ø When polishing glasses always ensure you completely wrap the glass cloth around the glass to avoid cutting yourself in case the glass breaks.
Ø Always inspect glassware and bottles for damage. Staff and customers may cut themselves if served with damaged or chipped glasses. Where chipped bottles are used particles may fall into the beverage when pouring.
