Scandals. Cartoon writer's controversial comment

There was a cartoon made several decades ago which featured a character who was horrified to learn that a girl was arriving shortly and going to stay with him for a while. She immediately appeared and was a huge oversized toddler and was extremely enthusiastic in showing her affection toward him, much to his obvious disgust. During a documentary about cartoons the man who had the idea for that was interviewed and said that it was based on how he had felt about having been in the company of young girls during an earlier period of his life and how he had disliked that situation due to him being homosexual. He developed upon that point in a shocking way by saying that he hadn't wanted the little girls there because he didn't like little girls because he was gay and he then added 'I like little boys' or maybe 'I liked little boys'. Many people were offended and I'm sure there were complaints to the channel considering that the documentary was broadcast at a time when families will have been watching it together. I think I half remember that someone in a managerial position at one of the UK TV channels announced that the cartoon or that part of the cartoon wouldn't be shown on that channel anymore.
