28.1 'S
i) This is added to personal nouns to indicate possession.
-This is Bigmeat's book.

ii) A singular noun ending -S can take only ' or 'S.
-This is Gomes' book.
-This is Gomes's book.

iii) A plural noun ending -S takes only ' .
-The boys' room.
-The Moyos' house.

iv) A plural noun which doesn't end -S takes 'S.
-The children's toys.

28.2 OF
i) We indicate possession with OF normally with things, and 'S with people.
-The back of the horse.

ii) It's also used in every long phrases instead of 'S.
-That's the pen of the boy I was talking about yesterday.

NOTE: You cannot say "That's the boy's pen I was talking about". (You were talking about the boy, not the pen).
