The Cessna Caravan was carrying 11 skydivers and climbed to FL140. At this altitude the reserve parachute of the first skyydiver deployed early and became caught in the tail of the plane. Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigators say the force of the parachute´s deployment threw Moline out and over the rear of the plane where the chute was caught in the tail fin and subsequently damaged. The skydiver, who had completed more than 1700 jumps, was dragged several hundred metres before the tail was ripped from the plane. The aircraft lost control and spiralled down. In the meantime the other skydivers evacuated the plane, followed by the pilot who managed to get out at 500ft.
