The first moto-race-tract of Germany

Berlin is a puzzle with 12 districts. Zehlendorf is one district.
The Grunewald is a part of a district from Berlin-Zehlendorf. The AVUS cut the Grunewald between Messegelände and Nikolassee.

1921 the first moto-race-tract of Germany was opened. A place for highspeed.
1937 the record was reached from Bernd Rosemeyer with 276 km/h.
At this time
Rudolf Caracciola
drove on straight line nearly
4 0 0 km/h.

The AVUS is 8km long.
Today it is a part of the motorway in the middle of the town.
The tempo-limit is today 100km/h.
