Amongst the Bleach reader base, Ichigo has been highly popular, having always ranked within the top 5 in the Shonen Jump popularity poll of the series and having second in the most recent ranking in 3rd place. Several publications for manga, anime, video games, and other related media have provided praise and criticism on Ichigo's character.
