IGNITION IN SI ENGINES

Internal Combustion Engines: EME-505

Ignition Process is the initiation of burning. In SI Engines, ignition is being provided by a spark produced by the spark plug, where a very high voltage is applied in between the electrodes having a gap. The magnitude of the voltage is around 20,000 to 25,000 volt and the temperature generated by the spark is around 10,000 C.
