rule of nines

What to look out for:

• Red and blistered skin
• Pain
• Dark red, charred skin (in severe cases)
• Shock

What to do:

1. Cool the affected area immediately under cold running water for at least 10 minutes.

2. If possible, remove any jewellery or loosen any constricting clothing.

3. Cover the burn with a sterile, non-fluffy dressing.

NEVER burst blisters or apply creams, lotions or ointments to a burn.

Chemical burns need prolonged washing.
