75. Feeling Horny

Feeling Horny

Doing It - Feeling Horny
While our desire to have sex is built into our DNA, we must thank testosterone for delivering the goods. When we reach puberty the pituitary gland, located in the brain, releases gonadotrophin hormones which go straight to the balls and starts shouting 'make testosterone now!' For much of our lives, we produce minute quantities of this natural anabolic steroid each day and - amongst things - the breaking voice, the balls dropping , dick growth, stubble and body hair are all due to this little miracle-worker. There are several theories as to why we're attracted to men: some believe it's rooted in childhood while others believe that a genetic marker, Xq28 (the so-called 'gay gene'), has a role to play. Some suggest it's a combination of the two, while others say: what the fuck does it matter!
FEELING HORNY
What makes us feel horny and fulfils us sexually varies from person to person but several factors are usually involved. The fact that we are designed to have sex, the sexual experiences with other men, and the associations we make with them all have key roles to play. For example, if you had wild and horny sex with a guy who had a certain build, who wore a certain type of clothing or who had a particular scent about him - the next time you saw that type of chest, jeans or aftershave, for example, you'd probably be up there like a rat up a drain pipe! We make the connections that trigger the memories - even if it's a different man, in a different place, months or years later. We are not programmed to respond in certain ways but throughout our sexual career we accumulate a fantastic library of memories and triggers that help to guide us though pleasurable and satisfying experiences. Conversely, we should bear in mind some men can become understandably nervous if they recognise something from a negative sexual experience - they don't want to go there again and the associated memory is warning them accordingly.
