* What can it cure? *

Even though many may enter the domain of homoeopathy thinking that it is an Utopia, one will quickly find out that it is not the magic cure-all modality that some may profess. Homoeopathy, however, does provide a powerful platform from which seemingly incurable diseases can be treated and cured.

Many cases of cancer, depending on the progression, have been cured. Homoeopathy has a good track-record with infectious diseases. It proved superior during the great cholera epidemics in history as well as the other epidemics that plagued the world.

Where structural changes have occurred it becomes difficult to cure though treatment may improve the condition or slow down the progress. Cases of cirrhosis of the liver, advanced arthritis, advanced cancer etc may prove to respond slowly if at all to homoeopathic treatment.

Genetic conditions like Down’s Syndrome, cystic fibrosis and bleeding disorders are for obvious reasons incurable, but treatable to some degree.

Some people under homoeopathic treatment may become discouraged because the rate of progress can be slow. Homoeopathy doesn’t eliminate the pain by suppressing the symptoms, it aims at true cure and therefore symptomatic relief may only follow slowly and at a later stage.

The rate of progress depends on many aspects. Firstly the time the disease took to develop have an impact on the time it will take to cure it. People with a run down, depleted system are prone to react slower. Should the causing factor still be present treatment will have limited benefits – things like overindulgence of alcoholic beverages, deficient diet, vitamin shortage and drug side effects of medication play a role.

What can be cured therefore depends on the nature and progress of the disease.
