How to Upload MP4 Movies

MP4 movies use the MPEG-4 video fileformat. It is more often referred to asMP4, which is also the file extension for the format. This multimedia container format is commonly used to store digital video and audio streams that can be played in variousmedia players. MP4 allows effective streaming of audio-video material over the Internet. When exporting a video to MP4, the preferred codec is H.264, a standard video compression capable of providing good video quality at substantially lower bit rates (the number of bits processed per unit of time). This results to faster loading and buffering of the video when played online.
Moderately Easy
Confirm the uploading requirements needed by the site where you want to upload the MP4file. While the general requirementsfor uploading video are considerably the same for video and social networking sites such as Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, Myspace and Multiply, each one specifies its own set of parameters and choices for compatible video files.
Click the "Upload" button of the video uploading site. From the window that opens, browse the files in your hard drive and select the MP4 file intended for uploading. Some programs like Youtube, Vimeo and Facebook automatically starts uploading the file after selecting the video for upload. Others like Myspace and Multiply require pressing a confirmation button such as "Upload," "Upload Video" or any other button referring to the confirmation of theupload process. Button name depends on the video upload site used.
Fill out the required video settings for the video such as your preferredname for the online video file, video description, credits for the ones who made the video, video category, privacy settings (private, viewable to friends only or viewable to everyone) or tags, so your video can appear in the video search results of Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines (onlyfor videos viewable by everyone).
Confirm the video upload and save the video settings. Depending on the video's file size and format, the uploading process may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.
Tips & Warnings
*. Technical requirements that may vary per site include: maximum video file size (usually between 100MB to 1GB); length of video (usually between 10 to 20 minutes); video codec (preferably H.264 for smaller data but still maintaining reasonable video quality); video format (high definition or standard definition); video size affecting the aspect ratio (high definition video has longer width than standard definition video); and audio (usually AAC, a standardized, lossy compression and encoding scheme with reasonable audio quality for even small data files). You can check all these technical specifications from the video's file information/properties (right click the video file, then select "Get Info" for Mac or right click from the videofile, then select "File Properties" for PC).
*. If the video specifications do not match the requirements of the site where you want to upload it, re-export or convert the MP4 file using a video editing software suchas Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer, or a file conversion software such as MPEG Streamclip, QuickTime Pro or AVS Video Converter. Use the specifications required by configuring the technical settings accordingly. Use the newly-exported video file for the uploading process.
