This is indeed a important verse, with many benifits promised for the person who recites regurlarly

Rasulullah (S.A.W ) has said " Auyatul Kursi is the most significant Aayat of the Qur'aan." A few benefits are mentioned below:

1. Aayatul Kursi is a protection from the Shaytaan, for the person who recites it when going to bed.
2. By reading Aayatul Kursi regularly after every fard Salaat, and every morning and evening, and often during the day, one will be saved from the instigation of the Shaytaan, and the evil of governors; and the evil of the humon race; and from the evil of carnivorous animals.
3. The regurlar recital of Aayatul Kursi contributes to good health and safeguards the body from pain by the wish of the ' On who lives forever and not even sleep."
4. The person who recites Aayatul Kursi regurlarly, will save himself and his family, and his children and it will protect them all, as well as his property, his home and belongings from being stolen, burnt or damaged by floods.
5. Whoever recites Aayatul Kursi after every Fardh Salaat, Allah will forgive that person's minor sins and overlook minor faults until the following Salaat.
6:By reading 4 times it is equivalent to the sawaab of reading 1 quraan.
Narrated by Ahmed in tafsee Muhibul Rahman Vol 1. Page 11

Ubayy ibn Kab (ra) narrates that Rasullulah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said : "O Abu al-Mundir! Do you know which verse of the Quraan is the greatest?" I replied: "Allahu la ilaha illa huwa al-hayy, al-qayyum." He struck me on the chest and said: "May knowledge be of benefit to you, O Abu al-Mundir!"
