Clinical and counseling psychology happens to be the largest area studied by psychology students. Clinical and counseling psychologists deal with the prevention, causes, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with psychological problems. While clinical psychologists treat phobias, manias and schizophrenia, counseling psychologists deal with people suffering from stress-related issues arising due to career, marriage, studies etc.
Clinical and counseling psychology is a specialized course, which can be pursued only after completion of post-graduation in psychology. One should have obtained at least 55 per cent in M.A. / M. Sc. (Psychology) to pursue M. Phil Degree in Clinical Psychology. M. Phil is a two-year programme. Some areas of specialization in clinical psychology are: health psychology, sports psychology, neuropsychology and geropsychology.
