The battle between the SUBARU Impreza WRX STi and the MITSUBISHI Evolution
Both cars are great! If you are looking for a car that will turn heads and has great performance, the Evo is for you.
If you are looking for a car that has exceptional power and turn heads, then the Impreza is yours.
The Impreza and its 2.5L flat 4 engine produces about 320HP while the Evo with an inline 2.0L engine will make about 285HP.
Both turbocharged beasts have top speeds in excess of 150MPH with the Evo being slightly faster in this respect.
Overall the Evo is faster on the straights but the Impreza is better through the corners and up hills.
In the typical application where straight line speed or acceleration is not totally important, the Impreza demolishes the Evo in almost every aspect.
Most people see the Evo as a street car and the Impreza as a rally car. But with revised gear ratios and the top speed limiter removed, the Impreza will out accelerate about any Evo.
The reason I prefer the Impreza is the fact that it has a bigger (2.5L) engine and a smaller (14.5psi) turbocharger. The Lancer Evo has a smaller (2.0L) engine and a larger (21.5psi) turbo. Anyone with the very least knowledge of how engines operate will see that the Impreza WRX STi has the better combination.
