Fields of the Nephilim

'keep talking'

Formed in 1984 Fields of the Nephilhm are, in my opinion, best described as a Gothic Ambiance band; although they've never been easy to pigeon-hole.

To begin with they seemed to be your 'typical Goth Rock band' but have always evolved, both musicly and lyricly, from one album to the next.

They have always dared to be different (the 1st line up included a sax player & Carl McCoys snarling, distorted vocals take a little getting used to) and this has often alienated the music press.
(Sounds hated them, a glowing recomendation to any music lover!)

Add to this the fact that Fields of the Nephilim had the nerve to build their fan-base up the 'old-fashiond way' by hard work, constant gigs and tours, rather than being 'discovered' by a music journalist- its easy to see why they never had an easy relationship with the media surrounding the music business.

Its from these beginings that they have grown to the point that they are now creating aural soundscapes that are coloured by surprisingly deep emotion and detailed with myth and legend.
(@ time of writing) their latest studio album, Mourning Sun, will take you to the deepest pits of dispair and then lift you to such hights that (if only you'll close your eyes and believe) you'll fly with the angels and wish you were in love.

Just one thing, if any of the band ever read this; a lyric sheet would be nice...
