Shankar's ability to create on the spot tune

" When any producer would ask Shankar to compose a song, he would
respond at that very moment and create tunes " I remember Hasrat jaipuri stating the same thing in his aricle in Filmfare, he claimed shankar as the fastest tune maker and then Neeraj too mentioned for one song - Likhe jo khat tujhe". The first song he wrote was rejected by Shankar , Producer Rajendra bhatia asked him to write such a thing that shanakr may have no Answer to it !. And then he wrote this song " likhe jo khat tujhe" which every one praised. he even got Bhatia's car as promised ! but then even Shankar made the tune on the spot on piano for that song ! And then Shankar also mentions to Raju bharatan that how he presented many tunes for a song of Shree 420(???) but all were rejected by Raj kapoor and finally the last one was selected. ( not sure about the movie ) Many might take it as big thing about Shankar ji but I feel it might have worked against him also. Not devouting sufficient time for polishing the tunes might have effected his songs. There was need for someone who could make him work out on his tunes. the way good directors like RK etc did ! Sorry to say immensely talented people like Shankar or Shaiendra did had few emotional weaknesses. They knew that they have talent and they were so confident of their work that didnt readily gave in to other's views. In Shailendra's book by Inderjeet singh it has been mentioned that no matter what may happen no one could make Shailendra write the lyrics at a particular time. Probabily Shailendra wanted perfect mood to write lyrics. and then no one could expect some changes once song has been writtenso. I think " pyar hua ikraar hua" incident is well known. and then there is one more incident where Raj kapoor requests Shailendra to change some word/s but failed to do so ! With due respect to both Legends I feel these things does effect one's career. .I feel Shankar too was not very flexible and didnt liked to be dictated by others. probabily thats why created his unquie style and kept on using it even after the death of Jai !.
