Season 7

A Call to Arms
Season premiere
Original air date: September 12, 2004
What´s the battle? Everyone is dealing with the aftermath of last season´s finale - Gideon´s betrayal, Chris´ death (and birth), and Leo´s destruction of an Elder. Plus there´s a new force floating around, and no one knows who it is - or what it wants.

What’s up with Piper: Piper is more paranoid than usual about the kids. She hasn´t left the house since Chris was born, and she´s in hyper-protective mode.

What’s up with Leo: Leo´s lost it - he´s obsessed with finding Barbas and wreaking a little well-deserved revenge. Unfortunately, Barbas´ fear-mongering powers mean Leo suspects everyone - even the Elders.

What’s up with Phoebe: Phoebe finds herself a bit distracted, to the extent that she´s started plagiarizing from herself and offering the exact same advise to multiple readers. She tells her editor she needs to take a break. Fine, says the editor - we´ll hire a ghostwriter.

What’s up with Paige: Paige is on nanny duty, and she´s getting restless.

Heads up: Leo is being haunted by an ominous floating invisible head, who warns him to save his son from Barbas That same floating head appears to Barbas, counseling him to take out the Charmed Ones by pushing Leo over the edge and thus leaving the sisters unprotected. Despite being scary and floating and invisible to everyone else, both men decide to listen to the head.

Complications: An Elder appears to warn Paige and Phoebe that Leo is attacking Elders and is in danger of being ´recycled,´ or sent off to be born in a new body. Paige tries to tackle two problems at once: She sends Leo and Piper to a friend´s Hindu wedding while she tries to track down Barbas. Phoebe is left tending to baby Chris outside, and is harangued by the suspicious inspector, who wants to know what happened to Chris. She hands Phoebe a summons to talk at the police station. At the wedding, the officiant calls upon the Hindu´s Ultimate Lovers, Shakti, the Goddess of Creation and Shiva, the God of Destruction, to bless the marriage. They chose to possess Leo and Piper while they´re at it. Suddenly, Piper is sprouting a couple of extra sets of arms.

Crazy love: Shiva-Leo and Shakti-Piper are seriously into each other, which is a problem. If Shakti and Shiva get together, it spells the end and rebirth of the world. Paige and Phoebe send Shiva-Leo off to find Barbas while they try to figure out how to eject the gods from his and Piper´s bodies. The sparks between the happy couple rub off on those around them - Phoebe gets amorous when she meets her hunky ghostwriter, Les. There´s smooching, and she flees.

Complications, part 2: Paige goes to the magic school for info, only to find it´s being shut down now that Gideon isn´t around to run things. Hmmm. Piper is attacked by demons while everyone is away. She and her many arms manage to fend them off, but Barbas almost gets to Chris. The sisters try to keep this from Leo, but he finds out and gets destructive. The inspector and Darryl choose this moment to break in, and the inspector gets pummeled by Shiva-Leo´s godly powers. Driven by rage, he takes out an Elder, who he thinks is working with Barbas. He´s appalled at what he´s done. Paige finally manages to eject the gods from their bodies. Piper tells him that no one needs to know what he´s done.

How the battle´s resolved: Paige and Phoebe track Barbas to his lair and vanquish him. Barbas is peeved that the scary invisible floating head sold him out, but vows to be back.

The aftermath: Paige has found her cause - she´s going to take over the magic school. Piper´s time as the ultimate mother made her realize being overprotective just leads to neurotic kids. Phoebe apologizes to Les for objecting to his being her ghostwriter. Leo looks for answers in Barbas´ ashes, but is confronted by the scary floating head - who lets Leo know they´re gunning for him.

The Bare Witch Project
Original air date: September 19, 2004
What´s the battle? Bored students from magic school accidentally conjure Lady Godiva out of history - along with Lord Dyson, a demon that feeds off human repression.

What´s up with Piper: Piper is trying to get Leo involved in his children´s lives again - even if it means she tracks him down while vanquishing demons. Wyatt seems way too interested in watching that, by the way.

What´s up with Leo: Leo is paranoid that the Elders know he offed one of their number. He spends his time trying to vanquish every possible threat to his sons.

What´s up with Phoebe: Phoebe is obsessed with the fear that her readers can tell her column is being ghost-written by a man. She´s inspired to make him confront the most chick-centric issue possible when she and Piper are kicked out of a café because Piper is breast-feeding.

What´s up with Paige: Paige petitions to keep the magic school open. The little prank with Lady Godiva doesn´t help her case.

Lady Godiva: The Elders see Godiva´s appearance as more evidence that the school should be shut down. Nobody notices a spectral Lord Dyson until he starts feeding off students´ repressions. Apparently when he does this, folks lose all control - for instance, Duncan starts kicking the crap out of schoolmates who teased him. Paige tries to send Godiva back, but it´s no good - Dyson needs to come with her. Dyson finally materializes after he gets an Elder to zap Paige. Paige is hurt. Dyson tries to kill Godiva, but he´s still too weak. He stalks the streets of the city, feeding off more and more emotion.

Somebody´s watching you: Les stops by the manor to confront Phoebe - he can´t do his job if she keeps looking over his shoulder. She reluctantly agrees to back off. Piper and Paige discover Dyson disappeared the day Godiva did her ride. They figure out he must feed off repressed emotions, and Godiva letting it all hang out basically starved him by doing away with repression. Leo finally shows up to heal Paige, but is reluctant to go to the Elders for information about Dyson - what if they know about him? Piper forces him to go. Elderland is closed to him - the Elders are paranoid after last week´s Elder disappeared. The backup Elder warns Leo that a new threat is building, and tries to bring him back into the fold. Leo is noncommittal. When the Elder leaves, Leo is menaced by the scary floating head again.

Repression central: The sisters decide not to wait for Leo to come back with information - they summon Dyson, who is now much more powerful. They send Godiva and Dyson back, but discover Dyson was powerful enough to kill Godiva and change history. Since Godiva never did her ride, none of women´s history happened. The sisters were protected from the cosmic backlash because they were in magic school, but the rest of the world is gray. Everyone is covered up and repressed, and women can be flogged for talking in the streets. The sisters are arrested for talking and for their scanty clothing. They summon Leo, who is straight-laced but a lot less tormented in this reality.

How the battle´s resolved: The sisters figure that if they can conjure Godiva and Dyson before he manages to kill her in the past, they can re-rewrite history. Paige searches out Duncan, who is part of a hidden underground of magic users, and convinces him to give her the spell he used. Back at magic school, the sisters try to protect themselves from Dyson by making sure they have no repressed feelings toward each other. They figure they´re safe. Surprise! Piper is carrying a load of resentment towards Leo for being so self-involved. She allows Dyson to get away. They lure Dyson back to the manor then allow him to feed on all of Leo´s repressed angst, loathing and resentment toward demons. It proves too much for Dyson, and he explodes.

The aftermath: Paige convinces Duncan he can send Godiva back, and in the process proves she´s worthy of running magic school. Phoebe takes Godiva´s example to heart: She shows up at the café naked and on horseback to shame the owner into allowing breastfeeding.
