☼Tips of Islam☼

1. In Islam, the mission of Jesus is considered to be a link in a long chain of prophets and messengers. He was miraculously supported to prove he was messenger from God.


2. Both in the Quran and the Bible, Jesus gives glad tidings of a final messenger who would follow him.


3. Islam is a way of life and provides guidelines for the whole life of a Muslim on every level. In Prophet Muhammad's words: 'Faith is made up of sixty or so branches: the highest of which is belief in the Oneness of Allah, and the lowest on the scale of worship is removing obstacles and dirt from people's way'.


4. The Quran, written in the 6th century, contains scientific data, which has been proven only in recent years- about the origin of the universe, mountains, embryological data, etc


5. Allah, the Arabic word for God, is a unique term which has neither gender, nor plural forms. It is the concept of the One and Only God, which is in the basis of Islam.


6. In Islam God is considered Just. Islam rejects depicting God as favouring certain individuals or nations on the basis of wealth, power, or race. Humans are created as equal and they may distinguish themselves through their virtue and piety only.


7. In Islam it is forbidden to be disrespectful to your parents, even if they are non-Muslims.


8. In Islam, a harmonious social order is created by the existence of extended families. Children are treasured and taken care of till a late age.


9. The family is the foundation of Islamic society. The peace and security offered by a stable family unit is greatly valued, and seen as essential for the spiritual growth of its members.


10. According to Islam, Man is not born in ' original sin’. Every child is born with the fitra, an innate disposition towards virtue, knowledge and beauty.


11. The main festivals of the Muslim calendar are Eid al-Adha, marking the close of Hajj, and Eid al-Fitr, a feast day commemorating the end of Ramadan.


12. The Quran is believed to be the Word of God as Muhammad, who was not known for any scholarly or literary training or achievements till the age of 40,when the Quran was revealed to him, could not have written a book that has not been equalled in literary merit and could not be surpassed by all the great Arab poets.


13. One of the most important principles of Islam is that all things belong to God, and that wealth is therefore held by human beings in trust.


14. God is considered in Islam Merciful. All but one of the 114 chapters of the Quran begin with the verse 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful'


15. In Islam as a way of life, performing one's own duties is highly valued and is considered a sort of worship, whereas mere rituals performed mechanically and with no influence on one's inner life are not valued.


16. In Islam social courtesy and cooperation are highly valued. Prophet Muhammad says: 'Putting some water in your neighbour's bucket is a charity'.


17. In Islam, kindness to the members of the family is an act of worship. Whatever one spends for his family is a type of charity.


18. The concept of worship in Islam is a comprehensive one that includes all the positive activities of the individual. All one's activities are considered by God as an act of worship, which should lead the individual to seek Allah's pleasure for his actions and try to do them in the best possible way, whether supervised or alone. There is always the permanent supervisor, who knows everything, Allah.


19. The Quran was revealed in 23 years and consists of 114 Surahs (Chapters) and 6000 Ayahs (Verses).


20. Islam considers that people should be called to the religion through preaching and debates with wisdom and goodwill.


21. A Muslim can give as much as they please as sadaqa and does so preferably in secret. Although this word can be translated as 'voluntary charity' it has a wider meaning. One of Prophet Muhammad's sayings is: 'Even meeting your brother with a cheerful face is charity'.


22. The Quran is considered the final testament which God revealed to Prophet Muhammad.


23. The Quran states: 'There is no compulsion in religion. Right has been made distinct from error' (2:256)


24. In Islam the equal treatment of all children is obligatory. Parents are prohibited from bestowing more favours on some of their children without a valid reason, since this could produce enmity and hatred among them.


25. The Quran has been preserved in its original form- recorded in written form during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad.
