My favourite York City player:

John Byrne

Born in Manchester in 1961 John joined the club as an apprentice in 1977 and made his debut against Lincoln in 1979 in div 4. John played for York between 1979-85 and made 188/11 apperances and scoring 64 goals.
Sold to QPR for 100,000k he went on to represent the Rep of Ireland. Without doubt John was one of the most skilful and talented players to pull on a city shirt.
