Backstage news for week ending May 31st (05.31.04)

Forxx is expected to take a week or so off house shows following Raw this Monday to spend time with his family, he is expected to be back for the weekend House Show in Des Moines.

John Cena picked up a few bruised ribs at the SmackDown! tapings on Tuesday but will work through the pain and isn´t expected to miss any ring time

WWE Officials including Vince McMahon himself have been very impressed with Thor and Odin at House Shows this past week. The pair are expected to go straight to the Raw brand to boost the flagging Tag Team Division.

Mav met with Raw Head Writer Eric Bischoff this past week to discuss the current direction of Mav, the meeting is said to have been very productive with Bischoff tabling several new angles for the Intercontinental Champion so expect big things in the near future.

Road Dogg is said to have had a major bust up with Paul Heyman backstage at this weeks SmackDown! tapings over his teaming with Hotbody again. Road Dogg who believes he has a better chance of success in singles action is said to have never wanted to team with Hotbody again after their less than harmonous split in 2002.

Randy Orton was left shaken at the house show in Los Angeles on Wednesday after a man dressed as Stephanie McMahon leaped the barrier and acosted him. Security quickly picked him up and ejected him from the arena. The third generation superstar suffered no injurys.

Several backstage sources report tensions between Rob Van Dam and Shawn Michaels prior to their excellent match on SmackDown! with one source indication Michaels made various remarks in good humor toward RVDs wife which Mr Thursday Night didn´t see the funny side of. There has been tensions between the two for quite some time and most people were expecting at least one such incident while Michaels briefly travelled with the SmackDown! crew.

Speaking of heat it appears there may be a little between Sphere and Dr.SmakDown!, Sphere turned up late to both the SmackDown! tapings and house show but with very good reasons on both occasions that management knew off but SmakDown! was heard questioning Spheres loyalty to several superstars including Shawn Michaels, King Daz, John Cena and Jamie Anderson. WWE CEO Ric Flair was understood to have had words with Dr.S who promptly apologized to all involved. General feeling backstage was that this was a genuine mistake on SmakDown!s part and no malice was intended.

There are still many critics backstage of the push of Titan on the Raw brand, Hulk Hogan, Batista and X-Pac being the most vocal but strangely both Silent Assassin and Shawn Michaels are in support of the angle. While most see HBKs support as something that would quickly vanish should Titan become a legitimate title contender they see Assassins support as genuine. Make of that what you will.

Backstage sources at Raw indicate that Suffering is currently dating former WWE Womens Champion Rogue. Many say this could go either way for Sufferings career depending on the outcome of their relationship as Rogue is a close friend of the infamous backstage Kliq. Many point to the relationship between Bret "Hitman" Hart and Torrie Wilson as the beginning of the end of The Hitmans WWE Career thanks to Torries links to Sphere, another close friend of The Kliqs

Everybody on the SmackDown! roster is said to be excited about the forthcoming Judgment Day PPV with the card being a particully strong one. The highlight will surely be The Undertaker vs Kane in Hell In A Cell, as well as being a massive draw the writing team and road agents alike believe it has the potential to be a classic.

Shawn Michaels vs Triple H and Hulk Hogan vs Silent Assassin are being advertised on local radio for WWE Bad Blood this June, take that for what its worth

Talking of Raw the whole brand is excited about the preformance of the nWo. Ratings, House Show attendence and Merchandise sales are all up since WrestleMania and most backstage say the angle is making for fantastic television.
